This Body of Mine
I’ve reached that momentous time in my life,
When my body won’t do what I ask,
It’s changing its shape very slowly,
And little jobs become major tasks.
I have to carry a tissue at all times,
As I now have a dribbly nose,
And I mustn’t sit down for too long,
For fear I’ll drop off in a doze.
I have to add extra time to my routines,
Because my aching joints make me slow,
And places take twice as long to get to,
The distances seem to grow.
But I’m happy to be in this body of mine,
With my drooping boobs and my big belly,
My time is my own, I can do what I want,
And sit all day in front of the telly.
