Who said you should put a smile on your face,
When you’re feeling down in the dumps,
Who said you should laugh and not cry all the time,
When all that you feel is a frump.
Who said I should consider those less fortunate than me,
The dying, the needy, the poor,
When I’m struggling to step out of this miserable mood,
And my chin keeps hitting the floor.
Well whoever you are I will do my best,
But no promises are guaranteed,
So if you’re hanging around with nothing better to do,
Then it’s your help I am sure I shall need.
